France's opposition Socialists are facing a long road to transform their triumph in regional elections into a serious bid to take the French presidency from Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012. The Socialists and their left-wing allies won 21 of the 22 mainland regions in the two-round elections that ended Sunday, trouncing Sarkozy's party in the last major ballot-box test before the French presidential vote. The better-than-expected victory buoyed the left-wing's hopes after years of squabbling left commentators wondering whether the Socialists could ever again unite to become a party of power. "The return of the left" read the headline on the popular Le Parisien newspaper while the left-wing Liberation proclaimed "the left wins the day".

Being stung by a bee would have most people rushing to hospital, expect at one Beijing clinic where patients queue up to be pricked into good health. Bee sting therapy, which involves placing live bees on a patient's body at certain pressure points, dates back over 3,000 years in China and was considered legal in 2007. It is similar to acupuncture in that it uses bees stingers instead of needles and the same principles, but the bees' toxin, which doctors say is a natural medicine, is essential, making the treatment like an injection. Doctors at the Kang Tai Bee Clinic, a traditional Chinese medical facility in northeast Beijing, say the therapy has proved effective in curing diseases such as rheumatism and arthritis, as well as a list of other ailments. "The bee therapy has an obvious effect on patients with bone and joint diseases," said Wang Jing, a doctor at the clinic.

London is the most searched for destination for Easter travel by UK travellers. Britain's love for Spain as a holiday destination may be fading, new data from flight site Skyscanner suggests. New data from flight site Skyscanner has revealed that the long running British love affair with Spain may be coming to an end. Examining flight search data for travel during the Easter holiday period, Skyscanner found that although Spain remains the most popular country overall for holidaying Brits, it's not as popular as it was just one year ago. Not only does the city itself have a huge number of attractions for families and couples, but the capital is also a hub for travellers heading for destinations outside the UK. Malaga remained the second most popular place for an Easter break for the second year running. However, there has been a marked drop in popularity for Spain compared to Easter 2009.
